How to Turn Off & Unlock the Key Ring on Ubuntu
- 1). Click on the "Ubuntu Main Menu" button and double-click on applications. Scroll down to "Accessories" and double-click on it to open. Scroll down to "Passwords and Encryption Keys" and double-click on it to access Key Ring options.
- 2). Right-click on the user password entry from the large list of passwords and encryption keys, and select the "Change Password" option from the pop-up menu.
- 3). Type in the old password in the "Old Password" field and leave the "New Password" field blank. Click the "Create" button; the warning message "Store passwords unencrypted?" will pop up. Click the "Use Unsafe Storage" button to save the changes.
- 1). Open the "Home" folder by clicking on "Places" and selecting "Home" from the list.
- 2). Press the "Ctrl" button and "H" button on the keyboard simultaneously to reveal hidden folders and files.
- 3). Locate and double-click on the folder entitled ".gnome2." Scroll down until you find the "keyrings" folder and double-click on it to open it.
- 4). Delete all the files in the "keyrings" folder by clicking on them to highlight and pressing the "Delete" key.
- 5). Restart the computer. Click on the "Use Unsafe Storage" button when the "Store passwords unencrypted?" warning pops up during start-up.
