    • 1). Power on your iPod Touch. To do this, click the power button located at the top right-hand corner of the iPod Tocuh.

    • 2). Plug the iPod Touch into your computer. Plug the USB end into your USB port and the opposite end into your iPod Touch.

    • 3). Open iTunes. Sometimes iTunes will automatically open when you plug in your iPod Touch, but if it does not, launch iTunes.

    • 4). Click on the iPod Touch icon that appears in iTunes. It should appear on the left-hand navigation pane.

    • 5). Click the "Check for update" button. This should appear in the middle of the main viewing screen of iTunes. If your firmware is up to date, it will read "This version of the iPod Touch software is up to date". If it is not up to date, you can download and install the newest version.
