- 1). Connect the iPod to the PC via the dock cable. Insert the dock connector into the bottom of the iPod, and the USB or Firewire end into the appropriate open port on the computer.
- 2). Click on the option after the iPod's management screen opens that is labeled "Manually Manage Music and Videos." Look for the iPod indicator to appear on the left side of iTunes, showing it as a connected device.
- 3). Click on the arrow icon next to the "IPOD" label on the left side of the screen. This will open the iPod's contents for viewing and playback.
- 4). Eject the iPod after the session by clicking on the "Eject" icon next to the "IPOD" label. This must be done prior to physical disconnection when using an iPod manually in iTunes.
