- 1). Wash your silverware thoroughly with a sponge in a mild dish soap and hot water.
- 2). Pour 1 tablespoon of ammonia into a clean dish pan that contains no other chemical cleaners. Pour 1 gallon of water into the dishpan with the ammonia.
- 3). Place your silverware into the tub of ammonia and water and allow it to soak for about 20 minutes.
- 4). Rinse the silverware in hot water. Rinse very thoroughly to remove all traces of the ammonia. Dry the silverware with a clean dry towel.
