    What is Click Flooring?

    • Click flooring is a type of flooring that is snapped or clicked together like puzzle pieces. These tongue-and-groove pieces can be connected together and placed over most existing flooring, except carpeting or wood floors. Generally, this product is made for flooring and is offered by several flooring manufacturers. You can get creative and install it on the wall with a little help from some finishing wood nails.

    Nails and Adhesive

    • Unlike other flooring options, there is no need to use nails or sticky adhesives to keep the pieces together for normal flooring installation. If you want to use this type of flooring on a wall surface, however, you may want to add adhesive between the pieces as you snap them together and then use finishing nails to keep them in place and give them extra support.

    Installation

    • Measure the wall's surface area before you begin so you know how much flooring to buy. This includes the height and width of each wall surface. Click the pieces together, upside down, without spreading glue or adhesive. Measure and mark the surface area you need to accommodate your wall area. Cut any excess off with a box knife or hacksaw. One by one, unclick the sections, spread glue or adhesive between the joints and click them back together. If the wall area is large, you may want to glue smaller sections together to be pieced later. Allow the glue or adhesive to dry thoroughly according to the product instructions before proceeding. With the help of an assistant, carefully lift the click flooring sections to the wall, with the flooring running vertically, and secure them in place with small finishing wood nails that are the same shade as the flooring. One nail every foot or so should be sufficient. If you made smaller sections, connect one section at a time to the next one, placing glue or adhesive between the joins as you go. Wipe any glue or adhesive excess away with a washcloth and water. Secure sections with nails.

    Tips

    • Remove any base trim before you install this kind of flooring to the walls. This will give it a better, seamless fit. Reattach the base trim over the click flooring once it has been installed. Repair any cracks or imperfections before you install the panels. Clean the wall of dirt, dust and debris before you start the installation process. You don't want anything trapped between the wall and the flooring panels. The wall must be completely dry before installation. If there is any chance of moisture buildup between the two surfaces, install some vapor-barrier paper under the click flooring for extra protection.
