How to Make Fabric Bananas
- 1). Draw two curved shapes onto the cream felt with the fabric marker. The shapes should resemble hot dogs, about 6 inches long and 2 inches wide. Draw the same shapes, about 1/4-inch larger, onto the yellow felt.
- 2). Cut out each of the shapes with the scissors.
- 3). Place the two cream felt pieces together. Thread the needle with a 12-inch length of cream floss and whipstitch the edges, leaving a 2-inch gap for stuffing. Leave the floss and the needle attached without clipping.
- 4). Stuff the banana with fiberfill to make a plump banana. Continue adding fiberfill until the banana looks the way you desire.
- 5). Stitch up the gap with the floss to close the banana. Tie a knot in the floss and clip off the excess.
- 6). Place the two yellow felt pieces together, matching the edges. Thread the needle with a 12-inch length of yellow floss and whipstitch the edges of the yellow felt together, starting about 2 inches from one end, stitching down around the other end and up the other side. Stop stitching when your stitches reach the same point you started on the other side of the felt. This creates the banana peel. Tie a knot in the floss and clip off the excess.
- 7). Insert the banana into the banana peel. Fold the open ends of the peel up over the banana or "peel" the banana by folding the ends of the felt down to expose the banana inside.
