How to Make a Chinese Dragon Mask out of a Cardboard Box
- 1). Cut out the shape of the dragon's head from your cardboard box. If your box is large enough, you can use one side of the box. Otherwise, you can disassemble and flatten your box to create a larger surface. You can use a picture or template to get the shape you want. You can also draw the dragon's head freehand, and cut what you have drawn.
- 2). Add color and details. Again, use a template or picture, or instead create your dragon's face from your imagination. Add mouth, teeth, nose, eyes, ears and spikes. You can cut these details from colored poster board or card stock, or draw them on using markers or craft paint.
- 3). Cut out eye holes so that you can see while wearing your mask. Ideally, your eye holes will be in the center of your dragon's eyes, but you should cut the eye holes in the position of your own eyes.
- 4). Attach ties to your mask by poking holes on each side of the mask and tying the end of a length of string to each hole. Alternately, you can attach a ruler or craft stick to the bottom of the mask and hold the mask up to your face.
