How to Make a 3-D Pinwheel Quilt Block
- 1). Cut eight squares of equal size.
- 2). Fold four of the squares into triangles by folding diagonally in half, wrong side together. Then fold them in half again. Heat-set the triangles with an iron.
- 3). Sandwich the raw edge of the triangle between two of the remaining squares. Line up the raw edges so they are flush. Pin the seam and stitch it with a quarter-inch seam allowance.
- 4). Repeat this with the second triangle and the remaining two squares.
- 5). Open the square-triangle pairs and press the seams to the right.
- 6). Pin the two square-triangles pairs together, sandwiching the remaining two triangles in the seam. Make sure the tips of the triangles touch in the center when you sew the square-triangle pairs together, so your pinwheel meets in the middle of the block when the block is finished.
- 7). Open the block and press the seams to the right.
