    Seashell Cross

    • A seashell cross reminds young and old alike that Jesus was a fisher of men. Gather shells and small, colorful pebbles from lakes and streams. You'll also need sand, wooden tongue depressors or craft sticks and white craft glue. Create crosses by gluing two tongue depressors or craft sticks together. After the crosses are dry, each person selects seashells, colorful sand and pebbles to decorate their crosses. To decorate, cover one side of the cross with glue and dust with sand. Before the glue dries, put spots of glue on different seashells and pebbles and press them into the sand. Allow the crosses to dry overnight. Spray them with a clear acrylic coating for a nice sheen, or leave the crosses natural. Hang the crosses on the wall with small wires attached to the backs.

    Sand Candles

    • Jesus is the Light and used the metaphor of a candle to describe how Christians should let their light shine to the whole world. Children and adults will enjoy creating their own candles with colorful sand and glass baby food jars. Many different colors of sand are available at craft stores and at pet stores that sell aquarium supplies. Use birthday candles that will stick 1-1/2 inches above the sand. Select the colors of sand for your candle and pour one color at a time in layers into the baby food jar. Insert a birthday candle in the center of the sand, leaving about 1/4 inch of space at the top of the jar. Use a toothpick to swirl the sand into beautiful designs. Melt clear wax or drip melted wax from a white candle to cover the top of the sand candle to seal it.

    Clay Pot Angels

    • Clay pot angels are an inspirational Christian camp craft, especially for the younger campers. Provide a clay pot 2 inches in diameter and a ping pong ball for each child. The clay pot serves as the angel's body and the ping pong ball becomes the angel's head. Turn the pot upside down. Glue a ping pong ball in the center of the bottom of the pot. After the glue is dry, the child can paint a face on the ping pong ball. Next, glue yarn or Christmas tree tinsel on the ping pong ball for hair. Cut angel wings from construction paper and decorate with glitter and glue. Paint the angel's body white and add glitter, colorful buttons or tinsel. The children can display the angels as Christmas decorations or give them as gifts.
