    • 1). Determine your budget. Average kitchen remodel costs are $15,000 to $26,000. Kitchen redesign costs can range widely depending on the quality and scope of your project.

    • 2). Determine the style of your kitchen: country, modern, industrial or neutral. Collect photos from magazines and online sites that are in line with your concept. Decide if you plan to keep any appliances, cabinets or countertops from your current kitchen.

    • 3). Consult with an architect to draft plans and estimate costs of any structural changes such as taking down walls to expand the room or adding windows and doors. You may want to meet with multiple architects to get comparison quotes and estimated timelines. Select an architect who is licensed and insured, and check references.

    • 4). Hire an interior designer or consult with a kitchen planner at the design store to map out your kitchen redo. The designer will assist with choosing colors, selecting new items, researching prices, drawing plans and assisting with the purchasing process.

    • 5). Arrange for installation of new appliances, cabinets, furniture and countertops. It may take several weeks between purchase and install. Complete finishing touches such as painting, backsplash, lighting and decorations.
