How to Miter-Angle Crown Molding

    • 1). Determine where the crown molding needs to be cut. Take the measurements from the wall where the molding is to be installed. Write down the measurements and mark them on the crown molding with a pencil.

    • 2). Arrange the crown molding on the miter saw. In order to make the correct angle cuts, the crown molding must be positioned correctly on the saw. Turn the molding upside down and touch the bottom edge of the molding to the saw fence while the top of the molding touches the saw table.

    • 3). Adjust the miter saw to the correct angle. Each saw is slightly different, but there should be a circular ruler on the saw that has the different angles marked on it. Use this guide to adjust the saw appropriately. The angles cut on the miter saw for crown molding are 45 degrees. You will need to change the 45-degree angle between left and right, depending on the side of the corner you are cutting.

    • 4). Hold the crown molding firmly in place and cut it with the miter saw. Test the fit of the crown molding and repeat as necessary.
