    • 1). Lay a sheet of particleboard down on top of the plywood. Shoot nails approximately 1 inch from the edge at 12-inch intervals around the perimeter of the plywood. You don't need to measure each one. Just approximate it.

    • 2). Shoot a row of nails down the center of the particleboard approximately 12 inches apart.

    • 3). Cut a sheet of particleboard in half with a table saw. Lay one of the pieces down beside the first nailed down sheet. Nail around the perimeter using the same nail pattern as the first piece.

    • 4). Lay the other half of the piece that you cut, lengthwise on the other end of the first piece that you nailed down. Use the nail gun and the same nail spacings to nail it down.

    • 5). Lay another full sheet of particleboard on the end of the half-sheet and nail it down using the same nail pattern. Continue the nail spacings and patterns. Cut custom pieces to go around cabinets, walls and fixtures.

    • 6). Walk all over the floor when finished. Listen for creaks, loose joints or soft spots and shoot nails into them.
