    • 1). Coat the mastic adhesive around the tiles with adhesive remover until it is soaked. Allow time for the solution to work the mastic. The amount of time required will vary depending on the specific product you are using, so consult the manufacturer's instructions for specific times. Check the adhesive every ten minutes and apply more adhesive remover to any dry or drying areas.

    • 2). Wipe away the majority of the mastic with a cloth. Scrape away any mastic that has remained stuck to the tiles using the side of a paint scraper, spatula or knife. This will free up space between the tiles for you to pry them away from the wall with the paint scraper or any other flat tool you have on hand.

    • 3). Spray adhesive remover onto the walls behind the tiles. Wait for the adhesive remover to soak into the adhesive left on the walls. Scrape away the leftover adhesive from the walls to leave the plaster walls free of adhesive. Then, they will be ready to be redecorated.
