How to Make a Purse for a Kindle
- 1). Lay your fabric with the good side down and set your Kindle on top of the fabric. Use your fabric marker to draw the outline of the device and add on an additional 1/4-inch to accommodate for seam allowances.
- 2). Cut two identical rectangle pieces of fabric per your measurements. Place the two rectangles with their good sides facing toward each other and then pin the rectangles together. Cut two additional rectangles of fabric for the handles. The strips of fabric should be 3 inches wide and 10 inches long.
- 3). Sew the pieces together along the long sides and the bottom. Don’t sew the top of the bag shut as this is the opening you will use to put your Kindle in the bag.
- 4). Keep the bag inside-out and fold down the top of the bag down 1/4-inch. Pin the folded lip in place and insert the opening of the bag over the arm of the sewing machine. Sew along the opening of the bag.
- 5). Grab the strips of fabric for your handles and fold the sides in to meet the center. Fold the strip in half to make a thin handle. Pin the pieces together and use your sewing machine to straight stitch down both lengths of the handle pieces.
- 6). Pin the handles to the inside of the purse where you want them to sit and use your sewing machine to sew them in place. Flip the purse right-side out and put your Kindle inside.
