How to Make a Cuff Bracelet Blank
- 1). Cut the top and bottom off your soda can. Cut the can up one side. Open it out. Cut a section of metal slightly larger than you want your finished cuff to be. Handle the metal carefully. Smooth off the raw edges and corners with steel wool.
- 2). Lay the bracelet blank down on your work surface. Place the ruler parallel to and about 1/8th of an inch from one of the short edges. Score a deep straight line with your scribe or ball-point.
- 3). Fold the blank along the scored line using the ruler to keep the fold straight. Fold inward towards the plain side of the metal for a flush metal blank; fold out towards the printed side for a blank with a raised border. Do the same on the other short edge, then the long edges. If you plan to add a covering to your bracelet, leave a space under the borders and only fold the metal all the way once your covering material is in place. Tighten the fold with flat-jawed pliers.
- 4). Punch holes in the ends of the blank for a lace or other fastening (optional). Your blank is now ready to decorate. Once the decoration is complete, curve the metal back into shape by rolling it around a cylindrical form such as a straight-sided tumbler.
- 1). Draw the outline of your desired cuff blank on plain paper, then cut it out. Clean and powder the glass sheet, knife and your hands. Break off a piece of polymer clay the size of a large marble and knead till soft.
- 2). Roll out a 1/16th inch sheet of polymer clay that's roughly the same dimensions as your template. Place your template on top of the clay. Cut around it with the knife.
- 3). Roll the cardboard into the shape you want your bracelet blank. Secure it with masking tape. Wrap the blank around it, taking care not to distort the shape. Pierce or cut any holes you need. Smooth out any fingerprints and bake according to the manufacturer's instructions. When hardened, your blank is ready to decorate.
