    • 1). Attach the 4-millimeter plastic sheeting to your rock foundation header to create a moisture barrier. Use a strong polyester adhesive to fasten the plastic sheeting to the rock. This will keep outside moisture from seeping into your insulation.

    • 2). Install a rim of 2-by-6-inch lumber around the exterior of the rock foundation, right next to the rock. This will serve as the base from which you will build your wall. Lay the lumber on its large flat side and on top of the plastic sheeting extended from your wall. See to it that the boards stand next to the rock foundation. Lay the boards end to end around the whole perimeter of the foundation.

    • 3). Secure your 2-by-6-inch boards to the concrete floor using concrete bolts at each end of the boards.

    • 4). Use the 2-by-4-inch lumber with a length equal to the height of the room. Locate the wall studs using a wall stud finder in the interior walls built out of the foundation and partially visible from the level of your home. Build your standard frame wall by spacing the 2-by-4-inch studs about 16 inches apart, measuring from the center of one stud while moving to the center of the following stud.

    • 5). Place each two-by-four on its end and on top of the 2-by-6-inch board that you installed in Step 4. With the one of the 2-inch sides of the piece of lumber resting against the foundation wall, secure the top of your two-by-four studs to the wooden joist found on top of your foundation using 16 penny nails and a hammer. Secure the stud bottoms to your 2-by-6-inch board with the same number of penny nails.

    • 6). Place fibreglass batt insulation in between the studs of your new wall. Ensure that the paper or foil side is facing into the room. Cut the insulation to its proper length using a utility knife. Compress the insulation using a scrap piece of two-by-four right at the point where you plan to cut. This will compress the insulation, making it easier to cut.

    • 7). Install two-by-four-inch studs to position the 2-inch side against your foundation wall. Secure the plastic sheeting to the floor by applying adhesive and pressing it against the floor surface.

    • 8). Place your fibreglass batt insulation in between the two-by-four-inch studs of your new wall. See to it that the paper or foil side is facing into your room. Cut it to its proper length using your utility knife.

    • 9). Compress the insulation using a scrap piece of two-by-four-inch lumber right at the point where the cut shall be made. This will compress it down to less than inch in thickness and will make it easier to cut.

Install your second 4-millimeter plastic sheeting to complete the insulation of your frame wall. Staple it on the wooden joist on top of your rock foundation using your staple gun.
