How to Make Leaves Out of Wire Edge Ribbon
- 1). Cut a 7-inch length of 1 1/4-inch-wide wire-edge ribbon in a color desired for your leaf.
- 2). Pull 2 inches of the wire from one end of the ribbon, on both long edges. Bring the two exposed wire ends together and twist to secure.
- 3). Fold the width of the ribbon in half, matching the long edges.
- 4). Pull the wire from the other end of the ribbon, on both long edges. Slide the ribbon down the length of the wire to gather. Gather tightly toward the secured end of the ribbon. Once gathered, the long edges will measure approximately 2 inches long. Bring the long exposed wires together and twist to secure.
- 5). Bring the long twisted wire from one end together with the shorter twisted wire on the other end of the gathered ribbon. Twist the wire together from both ends to secure. This will attach the two cut ends of the ribbon together. Do not cut off the excess wire.
- 6). Pinch the cut ends together. Wind the excess wire tail around the pinched together ends to create a stem approximately 1/2 inch long.
- 7). Flare the long folded edges of the ribbon outward to form the outer edge of the leaf. Position the gathered edges in the center of the leaf to form the vein.
- 8). Apply a small amount of craft glue between the edges of the vein to close the hole.
