Find funny images. If you want to make a funny card you need to look for images that lend themselves to funny comments and text. Old black and white vintage images from your family photo album can be fun, or even just pictures of you hamming it up as a kid can be greatly amusing to others as a greeting card.

Find sentimental images. If you want your card to be romantic, or illicit feelings of family or relationships you may want to search through your photos of you and your mate, your kids or group pictures of old friends and family. Again, browse through your digital images as well as go through old photo albums to find the perfect photo.

Create your own art. If you want to make a multipurpose card that you can use just to keep in touch or to send as a sympathy or get well soon card, look through some of your nature shots that are particularly lovely and enhance in Photoshop software or any photo imaging program.

Scan your images. Once you have found your images, scan them or relocate your digital images in a new folder named "photo-cards" so that you can find them easily when you are ready to create your cards. When scanning images be sure to use a high resolution setting to get the clearest images possible when creating your cards.

    • 5). Determine your text. If you are making a card for a specific purpose decide what you inside text will be. For example, if you are making humorous cards with a specific image work out the funny remarks and how to place them ahead of time.

    • 6). Open your desktop publishing software. Open a template for your half-fold card blanks in your desktop publishing software. If your software doesn't have a card template download a template from the blank card manufacturer (see Resources below).

Place your photo and text. Insert your high resolution image onto the card front as you desire and add the text if you choose. Resize your image to fit the card front and crop if necessary. You can use from one to three images on your card front if you choose.

    • 8). Print a test of your card on plain printer paper. This allows you to be sure your photo and text placement are exactly where you want them to be before printing on your more expensive card blanks.

    • 9). Print on your card blanks. Set your printer on the Best or High Quality printing option and print out your cards. Allow card fronts to dry completely before printing any text on the inside of the card.
