    • 1). Place loose potting soil in seedling trays.

    • 2). Sow each banana pepper seed ¼ inch deep into the center of each seedling section. Cover the hot banana pepper seeds lightly.

    • 3). Water the soil to keep it moist until the seedlings sprout. Place the seedling trays in a window where they will receive plenty of natural sunlight.

    • 4). Transplant the hot banana pepper seedlings outdoors once the threat of frost passes. The day time temperature needs to remain above 65 degrees Fahrenheit. Place the seedling trays outdoors for two to three days in a shaded area to acclimate the plants before you transplant them.

    • 5). Dig holes 18 inches apart with a trowel. The holes need to be at the same depth that the seedlings are in the seedling trays.

    • 6). Bend the seedling tray to loosen the soil and seedlings. Slide the seedlings out from the tray and plant them into the holes. Cover the holes with soil and tamp it down around the plant.

    • 7). Water the hot banana pepper plants to keep the soil moist. Place 2 to 3 inches of mulch around the plant to keep weeds away and to retain water.

    • 8). Apply a liquid 5-10-10 fertilizer to the banana pepper plant every other week during the growing season. You will need to follow the instructions on the back of the fertilizer package to ensure you apply it correctly.
