How to Use Marble Tiles on Walls

    • 1). Make a horizontal line over the base of the wall with your pencil and level, drawing the line up from the floor by the height of a marble tile plus ¼ inch.

    • 2). Make a vertical line through the middle of the wall, from top to bottom.

    • 3). Spread thin set mortar over the base of the wall, from the floor up past the horizontal line, using your notched mortar trowel. Spread the mortar from end to end across the wall.

    • 4). Hang the lowest course of tiles under the horizontal line, pressing the first two of them to the wall on both sides of the vertical line and then working your way out in both directions toward the walls. Put spacers between all the tiles. Use a wet saw to cut the tiles at the ends as needed.

    • 5). Set the next course up in the same manner, starting at the center and working your way to the sides. Proceed up the wall, course by course, covering it completely.

    • 6). Let the mortar set overnight. Pull out the spacers.

    • 7). Spread unsanded grout over the wall, using a grout float and pressing the grout into the lines between the tiles. Wipe off the excess grout with a dampened sponge.
