DIY Burlap Pillow From Rice Bags
- 1). Measure the length of the bag from the opening to the bottom. Cut a long strip of quilt batting 2 inches shorter than this length. This strip will be rolled up to make a '"pillow form" to insert into the bag, so cut it at least a yard long.
- 2). Measure the width of the bag and double it to find the circumference of the opening.
- 3). Roll the strip of quilt batting, starting at the end that corresponds to the height of the bag, until the circumference of the roll equals the circumference of the opening of the bag. Cut off any excess batting. You may have to use additional strips. Roll the batting loosely without compressing or pulling it as you roll.
- 4). Insert the roll of batting into the rice bag as you would put a pillow into a pillow case.
- 5). Sew the top of the bag closed 1 1/2 inches from the edge of the bag. Sew straight across the open end of the bag without tucking in the edges, just as the bag was sewn when it contained rice.
