How to Clean Stains From Formica Countertops
- 1). Wipe up as much of the stain as possible. Do this as soon as possible to prevent the stain from settling in the counter.
- 2). Add just enough water to 2 tbsp. baking soda to make a thick paste. The paste should be some same consistency as toothpaste.
- 3). Rub the baking soda paste over the stain with a clean cloth. Rub until you've covered the entire stain with the paste.
- 4). Lay a wet paper towel over the paste to make sure it doesn't dry. The baking soda will absorb the color and the smell of the stain.
- 5). Leave the baking soda on the stain for at least one hour. Let it sit for two hours if the stain is particularly tough.
- 6). Wipe up the stain with the paper towel.
- 7). Rinse the area with clear water and dry it completely.
