How to Put Music and Videos on an iPod 80GB
- 1). Download iTunes and install it to your system if you do not have it installed already. When it comes to transferring music or video to your iPod 80GB, iTunes is essential. You can download the program for free at the Apple website (see Resources.)
- 2). Connect your iPod 80GB to your computer using the interface cable provided with the device. One end of the cable plugs into the only port on your iPod device, and the other end plugs into a USB port on your computer.
- 3). Click the iTunes icon in the docking bar on a Mac computer to launch the program. On a Windows computer, go to "Start," "All Programs" and click on "iTunes" in the program list to open it. When iTunes opens, click "iPod" under the "Devices" heading in the left pane.
- 4). Go to the "Summary" tab in the iTunes window. Click the "Manually manage music and videos" option and then click "Apply."
- 5). Click the "Music" category listed under "iPod" in the left pane to display all of the music files in iTunes in the right pane of the screen. Scroll through the music files, and, when you find a music file you want to add to your iPod, drag the file from the right screen onto the "iPod" icon in the left pane.
- 6). Switch to the "Movies" or "TV Shows" category to view the videos available in iTunes for that category. Go through the files and drag and drop any files you want to add to your iPod onto the "iPod" icon in the left pane.
- 7). Import new music and videos to iTunes if the music or video file you want to load onto your iPod does not appear in iTunes. To import a new audio or video file, go to the "File" menu and choose "Add to Library." Find the file in the window that comes up and double-click the audio or video file to add it to the iTunes library. Then, drag and drop the file to the "iPod" icon as usual.
- 8). Click on "iPod" in the left pane of iTunes to select it once you have finished adding music and videos to the iPod. Click on the small "Eject" icon that appears beside to eject the device from the computer. Once ejected, your iPod 80GB can safely be disconnected from the computer.
