    Install Tile

    • 1). Unpack the tile to allow it to come to room temperature. Most tiles come in square sections with a loose fabric backing to hold the tile pattern in place. Lay the tiles out on the floor so you can see the pattern. Place the tiles in different arrangements to see what overall patterns you like best.

    • 2). Use your plumb line to establish straight lines. Mark these lines on the wall or floor where you are installing the tile.

    • 3). Mix your mortar. Apply it with the notched trowel. Keep the depth of the adhesive mortar equal.

    • 4). Start with one section of tile. Place it on the mortar. Cut any excess marble tile away with the tile nippers. Use the utility knife to cut through the backing if necessary. Secure the tile section in place by pressing the tile section firmly into the mortar.

    • 5). Repeat this process for each tile section. Put spacers between each section to maintain an evenly spaced appearance. Set any finishing pieces in place if necessary. When all the sections are in place, allow them to dry.

    Grout the Tile

    • 1). Work grout into the spaces with the grout float. Push the grout into the spaces from all angles to get good coverage. Allow the grout to dry for approximately 30 to 60 minutes.

    • 2). Wipe the tile with a clean, damp sponge. Remove all the grout from the surfaces of the mosaic tile. Allow the grout to dry completely.

    • 3). Seal the marble mosaic tile with marble sealant. Allow it to dry.
