How to Add Ears to a Crocheted Beanie Hat
- 1). Find the spots where you will sew the ears to the crocheted beanie. Place the beanie on a hard, flat surface and ensure the beanie opening is even all around.
- 2). Look at the beanie and count down two or three rows. Place one finger on the second or third row on the side, where the beanie folds. Slip one stitch marker at that point. Repeat for the second side of the beanie. (Reference)
- 3). Thread the tapestry needle with a length of yarn about 24 inches long. Remove one stitch marker and hold one ear against the beanie.
- 4). Slip the needle into the beanie one row below the ear, then push the point through the beanie and one side of the ear. Pull the yarn through the beanie and ear, leaving a 6-inch tail.
- 5). Place one sewing stitch into each crocheted stitch of the ear and beanie, securing the ear tightly to the beanie.
- 6). Fasten the yarn off with a slip knot at the end of the ear and cut with the scissors, leaving a 6-inch tail.
- 7). Weave in both ends neatly, using the tapestry needle. Repeat for the second ear on the opposite side of the beanie.
