How to Make a Skirt from a Scarf
- 1). Lay the scarf out on a flat surface. Ideally, your scarf will be at least 18 inches wide to provide sufficient length for your skirt.
- 2). Wrap the scarf around your waist. You'll likely be able to circle your waist 1 1/2 to 2 times, depending on the length of your scarf.
- 3). Tuck the top end of the scarf into the wrapped portion.
- 4). Secure the scarf in place with a safety pin. You may need to use multiple safety pins to ensure it remains in place.
- 5). Create a swim wrap by knotting the scarf around your waist. The scarf will then cut quite high on one leg, making for a sexy, beach-appropriate look.
- 6). Affix a button to the scarf rather than securing it with safety pins, if you wish to permanently transform your scarf into a skirt. You'll need to sew a buttonhole to the other portion of the scarf. Make a slit in the fabric and stitch the interior of the hole, to prevent it from ripping.
