Drinking Games for St. Patricks Day
- Irish poker is a drinking game played with as many people as you want, a deck of cards and drinks. Each player gets four cards and there are four rounds to the game (one card per round). One player starts the first round by guessing if the leftmost card of the player sitting to the left of him is red or black. If he guesses correctly, he can choose another player who must take a drink. A wrong guess means he takes a drink himself. The first round continues until each player at the table lays down his first card.
When the first round is over, the first player starts the second round. It is similar to the first however he will be guessing if left-most card of the player next to him is higher or lower than the first card he set down in front of him.
For the third round, players will guess if the third card of the player next to him is in the middle or the outside of the previous two. For instance, if he has a 2 card and a 10 card in front of him from previous rounds and the player thinks his next card is between those numbers, he says "middle." If however he thinks the number is outside those numbers such as a jack or king, he says "outside."
The fourth round consists of players guessing what the suit will be of the remaining card for the player next to him. - The classic game of beer pong is played by throwing a table tennis ball or ping-pong ball into plastic cups without knocking the cups over. There are many versions of the game, depending on how many players there are, and rules for when the players take a drink. Turn classic beer pong into Blarney's Beer Pong on St. Patrick's Day and decorate the plastic cups with four-leaf-clover stickers and use green beer.
- Play a game of flip cup with a large group of people divided into two teams with one team on each side of the table. Set out an equal number of cups of green beer for St. Patrick's Day, and for each team. One player on each team starts by picking up her cup of beer and drinking it as fast as she can. When she is done, she puts the cup down on the table for the next person in her team to go. The game is over with the team that finishes all of their beer first.
- Play a St. Patrick's Day version of the classic game Simon Says. The basics of this game include having one person be "Simon," or in this case "St. Patrick." The person playing St. Patrick will say a command for the group of players to do, such as standing on one foot. The command must always start with "St. Patrick Says." If St. Patrick shouts out a command without including "St. Patrick Says," players are advised to not do the command. To turn this into a St. Patrick's Day drinking game, choose St. Patrick's Day-related commands such as "Do The Jig." When St. Patrick asks a command with the "St. Patrick Says" before it, do the command--otherwise stand still and wait for the next command. Players who do the wrong thing at the wrong time have to take a drink.
