Directions for a Flannel Fringe Quilt
- 1). Cut six 12-inch-by-12-inch squares from printed flannel. Repeat this with the four different patterns until you have a total of 24 squares.
- 2). Cut out 24 squares of solid flannel fabric, also measuring 12 inches by 12 inches each.
- 3). Arrange the solid squares in a rectangle of four rows and six columns.
- 4). Place four differently patterned squares in a row on top of the solid squares into stacks of two, each with one patterned square on top of one solid square. This will create doubled sets of squares. Repeat this process to create six rows of four-square sets.
- 5). Place the two square sets in the lowest right row together with the solid sides together.
- 6). Pin one edge of the squares together, leaving a1/2-inch seam allowance.
- 7). Sew along the edge.
- 8). Pin the next square set in the row onto the sewn pair, leaving a 1/2-inch seam allowance as before. Sew along the edge. Repeat this process with each row.
- 9). Sew all of the rows together, pinning the solid sides together and leaving a 1/2-inch seam allowance, as before.
- 10
Sew along the entire perimeter of the quilt, leaving a 1/2-inch seam allowance. - 11
Cut 1/4-inch into each seam and along the seam along the outer perimeter edge. The seam should only be on the front side of the quilt. - 12
Wash and dry the quilt in a clothes washer and dryer. This will cause the seams to fluff out and look like fringe.
