How to Take Apart an iPod 5th Gen
- 1). Turn your iPod hold switch on.
- 2). Look along the edge of the iPod for a groove to insert the thin wedge into, but avoid the hold switch area.
- 3). Insert the wedge and slowly pry the iPod apart. When the two pieces are separated, set it gently on the anti-static mat with the screen side down.
- 4). Slowly lift the upper half of the iPod toward you. You will see that the two pieces are still connected by small ribbons clipped inside.
- 5). Using the eyeglass screwdriver, gently push up on the clip until it releases the ribbon. Pull the ribbon out of the clip and lay the released half of the iPod on its side, so the iPod is lying open in front of you.
- 6). Lift the hard drive, the large square part covering the area where the other ribbon is attached, and flip it over.
- 7). Lift up on the clip that is securing the second ribbon. The two iPod halves are now separated.
- 8). Perform these steps in reverse order to put the iPod back together.
