  The front entry of your home gives visitors an impression of you without a word being said. If people walk up to your home and it looks as if no one lives in the home, they leave without a good impression. Conversely, a front entry that invites guests to your home not only adds curb appeal to your landscape design, but also gives guests an impression of what they may find inside.
  
  

Lighting

• No one likes to walk up to a home without outdoor lighting at night. In the dark, people may stumble around, accidentally damaging outdoor decorations and themselves. A well-lighted front entryway invites guests to your home and "lights" the way to your front door. To remedy lighting deficiencies, place solar lights outside of your home as a guide to the front entry, as well as at the entrance of your home. Installing an outdoor light wired to a switch within the house allows you to decide when you wish to light the entry.
  
  

Decking

• Build a porch at your home's front entrance. A porch creates a designed area for barbecues during the summer months and can hold decorations during the winter months. Decide if you want a traditional porch with stairs, or if you would prefer a four-season porch to enjoy year-round. Paint or stain your porch to match or complement the exterior colors of your home. Building a porch to use as a front entry point of your home also adds curb appeal, which increases your home's market value.
  
  

Landscaping

• Landscaping plays an important role in the appearance of a home's front entrance. When walking up to your home, one of the first things guests notice, even before they enter your home, is your landscaping. To create a welcoming look, spruce up your home's front entry with seasonal plants and flowers, crushed rocks, mulch, garden lights and outdoor decorations. If your front lawn displays brown spots or is speckled with weeds, you may wish to consider planting a bush garden or laying new sod.
  
  

Front Door Upgrade

• Typically, the front door is forgotten about in discussions on how to remodel or update the look and feel of a home's entry. However, painting your front door immediately gives your home's entrance a new look and feel. Use exterior paint on your front door; for a bright splash of color, consider painting your door red or blue.
