How to Get to the Heater Coil on a GE Profile Dryer
- 1). Unplug your GE Profile dryer from the wall receptacle.
- 2). Remove the screws from the dryer's belt tensioning arm access panel, and remove it.
- 3). Open the GE Profile dryer door, and locate the screws above the opening to the dryer drum. Remove these screws, and pull forward on the dryer top to slide the top from the dryer.
- 4). Reach inside the dryer to loosen the two screws located in the bottom corners of the front panel, but do not remove them. Remove the two screws located at the top corners of the front panel. Remove the two bottom screws, and swing the front panel open to the left, taking care not to disconnect the wires leading from the dryer to the door.
- 5). Remove the two screws located directly beneath the dryer drum on each side of the panel. Removing these screws gives you the ability to slightly push the side panels away from the drum.
- 6). Move the belt tension arm to the right at the back of the dryer inside the panel you opened in Step 2. This takes the tension off the belt, allowing you to lift the drum from the front of the dryer, and access the heater coil.
