The Different Ways to Download Music on iPods
- Once you have downloaded and installed the iTunes software onto your computer, you will have access to the iTunes store. The iTunes store allows you to browse through musical selections of your favorite artists. After you find selections you like, you have the option of purchasing the entire CD online or purchasing individual MP3s for $.99. After purchasing the selections of your choice, the music you paid for will be downloaded into your "Purchased" folder located on the left-side panel. To download the music from your "Purchased" folder, simply connect your iPod to your computer using your iPod's USB cable. The iPod icon will display on the left-side panel. Drag and drop musical selections from your "Purchased" folder onto the iPod icon. After doing so, the music will automatically download onto your iPod.
- The iTunes library is a section on iTunes that allows you to store all of your favorite songs in one location. The library songs are categorized by "Albums," "Artists," "Genres" and "Composers." You can add songs to your iTunes library by inserting a musical CD into your computer's CD ROM drive and selecting the option to "Import" the entire CD to your iTunes library. You can also download songs in MP3 format onto your computer from various Internet websites, such as Imeem.com and Amazon.com. Connect your iPod to your computer using your USB cable. Afterward, you can drag and drop the MP3 files directly onto your iPod icon. You can also drag and drop entire albums or individual songs from your iTunes library onto your iPod icon.
- One of the benefits of an iTunes playlist is that you can categorize your songs. For example, you can create one playlist that consist of "Slow Jams" and another one for "Workout Music." By placing your playlist onto your iPod, it will prevent you from having to scroll through songs and skip over songs. Instead, you will have all of your favorite songs in one location. All you have to do is select the playlist you want to hear on your iPod and let the music begin to play. If you would like to download a playlist onto your iPod, you will have to create a playlist in your iTunes program. After creating the playlist, you can drag and drop songs into your playlist from your iTunes "Library" or iTunes "Purchased" folder. After you have finished dragging and dropping songs onto your playlist, simply drag and drop the entire playlist onto your iPod icon that is located on the left-hand side of the iTunes window.
