How to Make a Square Paper Plane
- 1). Place a square sheet of copy or construction paper on a table or any flat surface. Measure 1 inch up from the bottom of the paper. Draw a horizontal line across the bottom of the paper at this point. Measure another 1 inch from this line. Draw a horizontal line across the paper at this point. You will now have two evenly spaced horizontal lines at the bottom of the paper. These horizontal lines will be the fold lines for the front of the plane.
- 2). Measure the width of the paper and mark the center. Draw a vertical line from the center mark. Measure 1 inch out on both sides of the vertical line. Draw two additional vertical lines -- adjacent to the center line -- one on each side. You will now have three vertical lines at the center of the paper. These vertical lines will be the fold lines to differentiate the wings of the square paper plane.
- 3). Fold the paper upwards from the first horizontal line. The bottom lip of the paper should fold up and touch the second horizontal line. Crease the horizontal fold.
- 4). Fold the paper in half at the center vertical line. Crease the fold. You have just created the body of the two wings. Fold each wing back at the left and right vertical lines. Crease both vertical folds. With these three folds you now have constructed the wings and lower parallel body of the square paper plane.
- 5). Squeeze the lower parallel body together with your fingers and pick the plane up. The flat side should aim toward the ceiling. Face the nose of the plane outwards. The nose of the plane is the front edge with the horizontal folds. Fling your wrist forward and let the plane go. Watch it fly.
