How to Win Rock Paper Scissors
- 1). Like any other kinds of games, sports, or contests, it will be best to watch how your opponent plays first before you face him. Build the patterns of his gestures while this opponent is playing others. That way, when it's time for your match with him, you know how to design your play that matches him.
- 2). Consider the stereotypes in RPS. Male rookies open the game with a rock. Female rookies start with scissors. These are the tendencies, but of course, the professional players already know this too. So, adjust your gestures according to your opponent.
- 3). Watch out for players throwing the same gesture twice in a row. Most likely they won't repeat this on the third move, so take advantage of that. Example, if your competitor throws paper twice in a row, his next move will either be rock or scissors. You are better off throwing a rock yourself so you can win it or force a draw.
- 4). Use statistics in play. Scissors is the least used gesture in RPS. If you're in a bit of a struggle for your next move, you are a little safe with a paper because your opponent is most likely not going to throw scissors.
- 5). Keep your eyes on the opponent's hand just before he throws his move. You will be able to grab a fast clue based on how he opens his hand. Just be careful not to throw a delayed gesture because that is illegal during competition.
