How to Make a Lanyard for Carrying Ducks
- 1). Loop the 8mm nylon cord so it forms an oval at the top and has two strands of cord at the neck. Slide the rope sleeve over the two strands and push it up approximately 3 inches on the strands. Crimp the sleeve down to secure the loop and neck.
- 2). Cut the 5mm cord into 8 or 10 strands at 8 inches each. Use the lighter to melt the cut ends, ensuring no frays and rips hinder the cord.
- 3). Tie the strands around the 8mm lanyard loop starting on the sides (using the neck as the reference point). Use a rolling hitch to attach the 5mm strands. This allows you to modify the position of the strands based on the day's hunt and size of the ducks.
- 4). Tie the strands to the main lanyard in 4-inch intervals. Tie two strands to the neck ends using a double fisherman's knot.
- 5). Tie the open end of the strands around the ducks' necks using bowline knots to carry them on the lanyard.
