How to Make a Friendship Bracelet With Vertical Lines
- 1). Cut pieces of the four colors of string to 70 inches long. Take an additional strand of any color, and cut a piece 150 inches long. Bring the ends of the longest piece together. Cross the ends and pull until there is a small loop at the top. Put a piece of tape over the loop.
- 2). Take a piece of 70-inch string and match the ends. Take the looped end, slide it partially under the knot on the long piece, pick it up through the knot, and then pull the strings through it. This will make a small slip knot between the two strings. Do this again with the remaining colors.
- 3). Line up your strings in a row. For reference, the long piece will be called the "main string," and the others will be called "A, B, C and D." Take the main string and string B into your hand. Take string A and drape it across. This should look like the number 4. Then pull string A up through the middle of the four, and tighten the string until it makes a tiny knot at the top of string B. Repeat this five times.
- 4). Put the main string and string C into your hands. Take string B and drape it across, and then pull it up through the middle, making a knot at the top. Repeat this step five times. Continue this with D and the main string in your hands, and then C going over top. Then, with just the main string, do the same with string D.
- 5). Take the main string and go over string D six times. Then start working your way backwards below the first row. This means using the main string and C together, and going over them with D. Hold B and the main string together, and go over them with C. Continue this until you get to A again. Go over A with the main string six times. Below A, go over the main string, and B with A to start a new set of vertical lines.
- 6). Put the finished bracelet around your wrist and tie a knot through the loop that you created at the beginning. This should be tight, so that it does not fall off.
