How to Make Indian War Bonnet
- 1). Measure the width of your child's head. Use a tape measure and measure the circumference right above your child's ears.
- 2). Cut a strip of white poster board the same length as your measurement and about 6 inches in height to make the headband. The headband should be straight except for a curve on the front top of the band. This should look slightly like a crown.
- 3). Staple the two edges of the headband together so that the headband will sit on top of your child's head but will fit just above the ears.
- 4). Paint the headband with colors and symbols of your choice. Indian Summer is one example of an Internet site that shows examples of traditional Indian symbols.
- 5). Place beads and white flat feathers across the front of the headband using hot glue. Line the beads in patterns across the headband.
- 6). Glue six to eight colored feathers of your choice (or more if your desire) on the front underside of the headband so that they are sticking up above the headband.
- 7). Allow the headband to dry for at least 24 hours before wearing.
