How to Build Wooden Saw Horses
- 1). Build the legs. This will consist of building two identical structures. Each of these structures will be a pair of legs at one end of the saw horse. Each structure is in the shape of an A. Nail the cross beam so that the left and right legs are wide apart at the base but meet at the top.
- 2). Decide exactly how you want the top beam--that joins the two sets of legs--of the saw horse to be. If you want the top beam to be narrow (the most stable saw horse) the two legs should fit flush with the cross beam--one leg on each side. If you want the top beam to lie flat (to present a bigger working surface) then the two legs should meet each other and the top beam should be nailed to the juncture where the legs meet.
- 3). Join the top beam--the spine of the saw horse--to the two pairs of legs. It is OK if the spine extends beyond the legs--in fact it is a good idea.
