- 1). Draw your hemp bracelet designs on paper using colored pencils. Make note of what types of macramé knots you will use, what beads or charms you will include and where you will place them, what colors of hemp cords you will use, and whether or not you will attach clasps. Make the drawings of your designs as detailed as possible so when you make the hemp bracelets you will have good guidelines.
- 2). Combine different colors of hemp cord in your bracelet designs. Use complementary colors, which are opposite each other on the color wheel, such as yellow and purple. Blend harmonious colors, which are next to each other on the color wheel, like red, yellow and orange.
- 3). Utilize an assortment of macramé knots in your hemp bracelet designs. Employ a series of half-knots to create a bracelet that twists. Use square knots to create an intricate, woven look. Make a series of half-hitch knots to create a ridged appearance.
- 4). Begin and end the hemp bracelet design with an overhand knot. Leave about one inch of hemp cord to dangle on the outside of the overhand knot. Separate the individual fibers of the hemp cord to give the ends of the bracelet a frayed look.
- 5). Add an assortment of beads to your hemp bracelet design. Intersperse beads between macramé knots. Use beads in colors that complement or harmonize with the hues of the hemp cords. Incorporate large beads for a bold look, or small beads for a delicate look.

- 7). Design your hemp bracelets so they have metal jewelry clasps. Use clasps to open and close the bracelets when you remove them and take them off. Tie the opposite ends of the hemp bracelet to the two halves of a clasp. Note that you can eliminate clasps from your designs and simply tie and untie the bracelets to put them on and remove them.
