How to Build a Miniature Japanese Tea House
- 1). Cut out a 12-inch square piece of poster board with the scissors for a base for the teahouse.
- 2). Roll the brown clay into a large ball. Roll the ball into a sheet of 1/4-inch thickness with the rolling pin. Mark and cut out four 6-inch squares and one 7-inch square. Cut a 4-inch by 2-inch door in the center of one 6-inch square.
- 3). Press the 6-inch square edges together at right angles to create the teahouse walls, positioning the wall with the door in the front of the teahouse.
- 4). Place the 7-inch square centered on the top of the walls for a roof. Roll the red clay into a ball and flatten it to 1/4-inch with the rolling pin. Cut out a 6-inch square. Hold the square in your hand and pinch the center of the square to create a peak. Place the red clay peak on the roof of the teahouse.
- 5). Roll the black clay into a 2-inch diameter snake for a tree trunk and cut it with the knife to a 6-inch length. Press the trunk against the tree. Roll the green clay into pea-sized balls, press them flat with your fingertips and press them to the top of the trunk for tree leaves.
- 6). Roll the blue clay into a ball and roll it to a 1/2-inch thickness with the rolling pin. Cut it into an irregular circle for a pond and press it to the poster board base in front of the teahouse.
