Video: How to Knit Ears to Sew on a Hat
Video Transcript
Hi. I'm Anna from WildYarns.com in Denver, Colorado. And I'm going to teach you how to knit ears for your hat. To knit ears to sew on to a hat, first cast on twelve stitches. Make sure you leave a tail that is six to eight long so you can sew it on afterwards. Knit two rows in garter stitch and then begin your decreases. Decrease one, knit one stitch, then knit two stitches together. Then knit across to the last three stitches. Knit two stitches together and knit one stitch like this. Knit one stitch, knit two together, knit to the last three stitches, knit two stitches together, knit one stitch. Knit the next row plain, without any decreases whatsoever. And then repeat the decrease row. When you get to the end you'll see you have four stitches. You knit one stitch, knit two together, knit one stitch, knit the next row, knit one stitch, knit two together, knit the next row, and then finally knit the last two stitches together. Break the end of the yarn, or cut it, and pull the end out.You have a nice triangle. Knit, weave that end in and then using your cast on tail, weave it and whip stitch it on to the hat. And then you have an ear. I hope you enjoyed learning how to knit ears for your hat. I'm Anna from WildYarns.com in Denver, Colorado. Thanks for watching and happy knitting.
