How to Do a Clean Installation of Windows Vista 64-Bit
- 1). Power on your computer, and insert your original Windows installation CD into the computer's disc drive. Click "Start," "Turn off computer" and "Restart."
- 2). Press any key on the keyboard to boot the installation CD, when prompted to do so. Click on "Install Now" on the "Install Windows" screen.
- 3). Enter the 25-character activation key that came with your copy of Windows. Click the box next to "I accept the license terms."
- 4). Click "Custom" when asked which type of installation you want. Click on "Drive options (advanced)." Click "Format." If asked which hard drive you want to format, choose the letter of your hard drive, most commonly "C."
- 5). Click "Next." The hard drive is formatted, then Windows Vista is installed on it.
