- 1). Put the Windows XP CD into your Lenovo's CD or DVD drive.
- 2). Restart your computer, waiting until you see the "Press any key to continue booting from CD-ROM" (or similar) message and then pressing the "Space Bar" or "Enter" key.
- 3). Press the "R" key then press the "1" key, followed by the "Enter" key. This logs you into the Recovery Console, a command-line utility that has an MBR repair function.
- 4). Type "fixmbr" into the Recovery Console and press "Enter." If you are asked to confirm the action, type "yes" and press "Enter" to repair the Lenovo's MBR.
