How to Cut Tile Around Outlets
- 1). Measure the distance from your last full tile to the edge of your outlet box, remembering to subtract the width needed for your grout line where the tiles will meet. If your tile will meet at the corner of the outlet, measure both the height and width.
- 2). Mark the tile to be cut with the corresponding measurements, using a china "grease" marker.
- 3). Place a piece of paper over your marked tile, outline the tile and trace the measurement lines onto the paper; cut out the paper on the lines and hold it up to the outlet to be sure your measurements are true.
- 4). Turn on the wet saw, and after checking to be sure the water is flowing, cut your tile to the end of the first china marker line, making sure you hold the tile steady to ensure a straight cut.
- 5). Cut a corner by making a second cut on the corresponding china marker line to meet the end of the first cut.
