- 1). Save all your personal data from Windows Vista to DVD or an external hard drive.
- 2). Go to http://www.dban.org/download and download the latest version of dban for Intel and AMD computer. Once downloaded, double click on the file you just downloaded and drag the dban-betaxxxxx.iso to your desktop.
- 3). Insert a blank CD or DVD in your CD/DVD burner. Use the "burn image" function of your CD/DVD burning software and select the dban file you extracted to your desktop.
- 4). After the CD/DVD is finished, restart your computer. monitor your screen and press the key necessary to display the "Boot menu". In that menu choose your D/DVD drive using the up and down arrows on your keyboard. Press "Enter".
- 5). Type "autonuke" and press "Enter" in the "Darik's Boot and Nuke" menu to wipe your hard drive.
- 6). Insert your Windows XP install CD after the wiping is complete and restart your computer. Press the appropriate key to display the boot menu and choose your CD/DVD drive before press "Enter"
- 7). Press any key to boot from the cd-rom when prompted. Follow the on screen instructions to install your Windows XP operating system.
