    • 1). Open a website that offers a countdown timer application.

    • 2). Type in the date and time of your event. For example, if counting down until Christmas Day 2011, choose Dec. 25, 2011 as your date. Some applications allow you to choose a specific time, such as 8 a.m., and to type in a personalized message, such as “Happy Christmas.” Choose the color and layout for your timer if allowed.

    • 3). Click the “get code” link to get an HTML-embedded code you'll need to share your timer.

    • 4). Copy the code by first highlighting it. Take the cursor of your mouse in front of the first letter of the code, press down the left button of your mouse, and while keeping it down, move the cursor to the end of the code to highlight it. Let go of the left button and take the cursor over the highlighted text. Click the right button of your mouse to open a window of options. Take the cursor on top of the "copy" and press with the left button.

    • 5). Open your email account and click the "create a new email" button.

    • 6). Change the email message field to HTML format, such as choosing the "edit in HTML" option or similar from your email account.

    • 7). Move the cursor of your mouse to the text field where you would typically write your email message. Click the right button of your mouse to open a window. Move the cursor on top of the "paste" and click with the left button of your mouse. The code text should paste into the message field.

    • 8). Change your email message field back to "rich text" format. Your countdown timer should appear in the message field.

    • 9). Write your email message below the timer and add the email addresses to the "to:" field to designate who receives your countdown timer. Hit "send" to send the email.
