    • 1). Set the ruler down on the sheet of plywood. Trace a 12-inch square base for your castle. Draw the outlines for the four walls. Make the front and back walls 12 inches long, 10 inches high and 3/4 inches thick. The left and right walls must be 10.5 inches long, 10 inches high and 3/4 inches thick. When the four walls are erect they form an overlapping square to fit the 12-inch square castle base. Cut out the traced walls and base with your saw.

    • 2). Trace windows in your castle walls. Make smaller windows at the top of the walls and larger, arched windows toward the bottom. Cut out the windows with the router or rotary tool. Decide where your main castle doors should be on one of the walls. Design arch or square doors and cut them out.

    • 3). Glue the walls to the baseboard and clamp them. Let the glue dry.

    • 4). Trace four, 2-inch by 2-inch squares in the plywood as the base for towers at the four corners of your castle. Draw a triangle at the top of each of the squares. Cut out each of the four square and triangle pairs as one structure. Draw a window for each tower and cut it out.

    • 5). Glue the towers to the four corners of the castle.

    • 6). Paint your castle walls using gray paint. Paint the towers brown to make them stand out.

    • 7). Set your wooden castle on a sturdy structure, such as a sheet of plywood or thick cardboard. Embellish the surrounding environment of the castle with fake moss, model trees, boulders and flags.
