Shoe boxes are the ideal craft supply. Shoe boxes come in different sizes, from small baby shoe boxes to large boot boxes. They are sturdy, free and full of possibilities. Paint, marker, crayon, pencil, and glue are materials that you can use in shoe box crafts, but there's no need to limit yourself to only these.

    Story Book Diorama

    • Decide what story to illustrate for your diorama. This can be a fairy tale, a Bible story, or a made up story. Paint the inside of your box whatever colors go with your tale. For example, if your story takes place outside, a blue sky and green ground might apply. For clouds, you can glue cotton balls to the sky. Draw your characters on a separate sheet of paper, use a photocopy or printout of already drawn characters or use photographs. Cut them out. Cut out a strip of paper and fold it into a dimensional square with three folds to create four equal sides. Tape it together at the open end. Tape it to the back of your cut outs. Now you can glue them into your diorama and they will look dimensional. For trees and grass, you can use moss. Little stones can look like a castle wall. Use different materials to create an interesting effect. You can use fishing wire to make objects look like they are flying or floating.

    Dollhouse

    • By taking multiple shoe boxes and hot gluing them together, you can create a dollhouse. Make each box a separate room. Use fabric, interesting scrap book paper, origami paper, paint and stickers for the walls. Place existing doll house furniture into the rooms if you have it. If you don't, you can make fake windows by taking an outdoor scene from a magazine or advertisement and pasting it up on one of the walls, and create curtains from fabric to put around the window. Make beds and couches out of smaller boxes and fabric. Add Christmas lights for some extra flair. Your only limits are materials and imagination.

    Organizer

    • Decorate the inside and the outside of the box with scrapbook paper or fabric. Use separate pieces of cardboard as separators. Cut them to size to divide the box into sections. Glue scrapbook paper or fabric to the separators on each side. Hot glue them to stand up inside of the box to create your sections. Now you can use this organizer to hold craft supplies, paintbrushes, pencils, small toys or hair clips.

    Coin Bank

    • Wrap the box in wrapping paper or paint it with acrylic paints. With stickers, glitter or photos, decorate the outside of the box even more, especially the lid. Cut a slit in the top of the lid. This is where the coins will go into the box. Glue the lid shut.
