How to Make Sliding Cards

    • 1). Measure 5 1/2 inches up the long edge of your 8 1/2 by 11 inch piece of card stock and make a mark at this point. Place this piece of cardstock in your paper slicer, with only the scoring blade loaded into the slicer, and line up the mark you made with the cutting line. Score the paper.

    • 2). Fold the card, creasing along the score line. Run the tip of your bone folder over the crease. Lay the card aside.

    • 3). Cut one of your other pieces of card stock so that it is 5 by 8 inches and the other so it is 4 1/2 by 7 1/2 inches. Glue the 4 1/3-by-7 1/2-inch piece of card stock on top of the 5-by-8-inch piece of card stock so that a 1/4-inch border of the bottom card stock shows around the edges of the top card stock.

    • 4). Flip the card stock construction over and measure 1 inch up from the bottom and draw a line that starts 1 inch in from the side and extends to the other side, stopping 1 inch from that edge. At each end of the line draw a 1/2-inch line extending up. Connect the top two points of the lines extending up with another straight line. You should now have a box that is a 1/2 inch tall and 3 inches long.

    • 5). Cut out the box that you drew with a craft knife. You may have to trace over the lines several times with your craft knife to make it through both layers of card stock.

    • 6). Take one penny and attach a foam dot to the center of the penny. Place the other penny on top of the first, with the foam dot sandwiched between the two.

    • 7). Stamp all of the images that you want to use for your card on your solid-colored piece of card stock using a black stamp pad. Space the stamps far enough apart so they can be cut out. One stamped image should be smaller, around 1 inch to 1 1/2 inches tall.

    • 8). Color in your stamped images with colored pencils or markers. Cut the stamped images out. Attach the smaller stamped image, with a foam dot, to the top of your penny sandwich.

    • 9). Work the penny sandwich into the center of the box that you cut out of your two attached pieces of card stock so that the card stock is between the two pennies. Place strips of foam tape along the back of the two pieces of card stock that are attached together and adhere them to the front of your folded card.

Attach the rest of your stamped images to your card where you want them with glue.
