Creating an MDS File With Alcohol 120%

• 1). Download and install Alcohol 120% using the first link in the Resources section of this article. Launch the program after installing it.
  
  
• 2). Insert the CD or DVD from which you would like to create MDS and MDF files.
  
  
• 3). Click the "Image Making Wizard" link in the upper-left corner of the window. A new window will appear. If you have more than one CD or DVD drive, confirm that the drive listed next to "CD/DVD Device" in the upper-right corner of the window is correct.
  
  
• 4). Click the "Reading Options" tab and then click the folder icon next to "Image Location." Click the folder where you would like to save the disc copy or click the "New Folder" button to create a folder.
  
  
• 5). Click the drop-down menu next to "Image Format" and select "Media Descriptor Image File (.MDS)."
  
  
• 6). Click the "Start" button. Alcohol 120% will create a copy of the disc using the MDS and MDF file formats.
  
  

Creating an MDS File With Daemon Tools

• 1). Download and install Daemon Tools using the second link in the Resources section of this article. Launch the program after installing it.
  
  
• 2). Insert the CD or DVD from which you would like to create MDS and MDF files.
  
  
• 3). Click the "Make Disc Image" button at the top of the screen. A new window will appear. If you have more than one CD or DVD drive, confirm that the drive listed next to "Device" at the top of the window is correct.
  
  
• 4). Click the "Image Catalog" tab. Click the "..." button next to "Destination Image File." Browse to the location where you would like to save the disc copy. Type a name in the "File Name" box and then click "Save."
  
  
• 5). Select the radio button labeled "MDS/MDF Image" under "Output Format."
  
  
• 6). Click the "Start" button. Daemon Tools will create a copy of the disc using the MDS and MDF file formats.
